PreK & Kindergarten
Nurturing our youngest hearts and minds through virtue, wonder, and joy of discovery.

Prayerful Mission and Vision
Capstone’s PreK and Kindergarten curriculum is thoughtfully developed for 4, 5, and 6-year-old students, intentionally preparing them for Kindergarten and beyond at Capstone Classical Academy. Our core curriculum has been prayerfully developed in-house with a desire to place Christ at the center of all learning. It is enriched with trusted resources across key areas, including literacy, mathematics, Bible, handwriting, and classical education, all taught through a Christian worldview.
The best way to learn about our PreK and Kindergarten programs is to experience them firsthand. Join us for an upcoming Kindergarten Connection to see our classrooms in action.
PreK Curriculum
For mathematics instruction, we utilize Dimensions: Singapore Math Pre-K, helping students see God as a God of order and design. Our Bible curriculum is provided through Christian Schools International (Pre-K edition), aligning with our school’s littlest learners and grounding students in the truth of God’s Word. Handwriting instruction follows Handwriting Without Tears, encouraging diligence, perseverance, and excellence as acts that honor the Lord. Our classical approach, supported by The Gentle and Classical Preschool, cultivates wonder and joy as students explore what is True, Good, and Beautiful in God’s creation.
Our program is thoughtfully organized around engaging, theme-based units, each explored over the course of one to two weeks. Every aspect of the classroom experience—ranging from art projects to math and literacy activities—is intentionally connected to the theme, creating a meaningful and cohesive learning environment. Bible memory is also an important part of our daily routine, with verses practiced over one to three weeks to help students hide God’s Word in their hearts and grow in their understanding of His truth. All of this is tied into the Dramatic Play center, a carefully designed space that reflects each week’s theme and encourages imaginative exploration. Through creative expression and play, children develop not only academically but also socially and spiritually.
A Day in the Life
Each day follows a consistent and nurturing rhythm, beginning with Circle Time. During this time, students participate in calendar activities, weather observations, a morning message, and classroom responsibilities, all while recognizing God’s hand in the order of our days and the beauty of His creation. Prayer and worship are woven throughout the day, encouraging students to develop a personal relationship with Christ. Our academics center on literacy, mathematics, and Bible.
Students enjoy daily read-alouds that include both thematic stories and rich classical literature, helping to cultivate a love for language while reinforcing Biblical values. We also incorporate “Brain Boosts,” using music and movement—often including songs of praise—to promote joyful learning. The rest of the day includes hands-on centers, such as carpet play, themed art projects, small group instruction in math and handwriting, and imaginative dramatic play. These experiences encourage creativity, social skills, cooperation, and Christ-like character.
Every aspect of the day is designed to nurture the whole child—heart, mind, and soul—so that each student grows in faith, wisdom, and love for God and others.

Kindergarten Curriculum
Capstone's Kindergarten classroom is characterized by a structured, teacher-led environment that prioritizes "the grammar stage" of learning—the acquisition of foundational facts through wonder and imitation. The atmosphere is governed by decorum and the cultivation of moral virtue, beginning the day with scripture recitation, prayer, and review of the Gryphon Weapon, or virtue, of the week. Students engage in a content-rich "spiral" curriculum that emphasizes explicit phonics through the Literacy Essentials program and Singapore Mathematics, which moves from concrete objects to abstract concepts. The English lessons are filled with the "Great Stories" of Western tradition, featuring Aesop’s Fables, Beatrix Potter, and American tall tales, alongside a robust introduction to history and geography that covers everything from the Seven Continents to the lives of Washington and Lincoln.
This early education is not merely academic but formative, aiming to ignite a love for the True, Good, and Beautiful through the integration of art, music, and the natural sciences, all while grounding the child in the beginnings of civic virtue and a Christian moral framework.
