Math practice takes on a playful twist in Ms. Edison's second-grade classroom!
Students are discovering that numbers are more than facts to memorize—they are connected in meaningful ways. Through number bonds, students learn how a whole number can be made up of smaller parts. For example, 8 can be broken into 5 and 3, showing that \(5 + 3 = 8\). Understanding this relationship also helps students see how addition and subtraction work together.
To put this understanding into practice, students pair up, use a deck of cards, and challenge one another to explore number relationships. This playful, hands-on practice builds number sense, laying a strong foundation for future mathematical learning through Capstone's Singapore Math curriculum.
We invite you to see our classrooms in person and discover an education rooted in Christ, grounded in timeless wisdom, and designed to cultivate a lifetime of learning, virtue, and purpose.
