Campus Life
Cultivating a joyful, virtuous culture.
Christian Culture on Purpose
We know that we will have a culture whether we try or not. The only question is what kind of culture we will have. Culture is an immersive experience that shapes the hearts and minds of our children. It is the first task of the faculty and staff of Capstone. In order to create a Christian culture that nurtures wisdom and virtue in the souls of our students and even of our faculty and parents, we have designed habits, or ways of being, into our school day. Here are just a few.
Houses
The House Program at Capstone is a distinctive feature of the school, weaving together academics, social, athletic, artistic, and spiritual pursuits through student citizenship in one of seven Houses that compete annually for the House Cup, which goes to the House that best lives out the ideals of the academy.
Heart-Shaping Habits
Virtue is loving the right things in the right order. Therefore shaping the loves of our children is of primary concern in making them virtuous. They will become what they love. We practice virtuous habits in school so that by daily practice our students may find themselves not just doing what is right but desiring right for its own sake.
Virtues
Virtues are weapons in the fight for the Good Life. Capstone's students learn to admire and pursue the Gryphon's Weapons, which are our seven key school virtues. Celebration of these virtues are woven throughout the Capstone experience.
